This Explainer details how the User Experience Centre of Excellence will support staff across oxford to deliver great digital experiences.
What is UX?
UX or User Experience is about creating meaningful and satisfying experiences for users by addressing their needs, understanding their preferences, and behaviours. UX design aims to enhance the overall interaction between users and products, ensuring that every touchpoint is intuitive, efficient, and enjoyable.
What is the UX Centre of Excellence?
As part of the University of Oxford's investment in Digital Transformation, the UX Centre of Excellence has been introduced to help staff create great user experiences. Made up of experts in UX Research, Digital Accessibility, and UI/UX design the centre can support staff in delivering accessible and easy to use digital services.
Why has the UX centre been created?
As Oxford’s Digital Transformation aims to enable staff and students at Oxford to digitally thrive, a key part of that is ensuring that our digital services are easy to use, accessible and designed with the end user in mind. The UX centre of excellence will provide staff with the tools and expertise to allow this to happen.
Who does it benefit and how?
Colleagues who deliver a digital product or service, whether that is an application, website or online course can contact the centre to find out how to ensure that their product or service meets accessibility needs and offers an effective and efficient user experience.
How can I get support from the UX centre?
There are a number of ways that the UX centre can support you in providing a great digital experience; the team offer training and workshops, testing tools, usability reviews and consultation. If you are interested in a consultation session please complete this work request form and a member of the team will be in touch.
What is next?
The UX team are currently working on a repository of resources that staff will be able to use to improve the UX of their service or product. These will be found on their website which is being regularly updated based on the resources people are asking for.
