The University 'places the greatest importance on the integrity of its operations'1 and is committed to:

  • 'fostering an inclusive culture which promotes equality, values diversity and maintains a working, learning and social environment in which the rights and dignity of all members of the University community are respected' (Harassment policy)
  • 'ensuring that its research involving human participants is conducted in a way that respects the dignity, rights, and welfare of participants, and minimises risk to participants, researchers, third parties, and to the University itself' (research ethics guidance)
  • 'conducting its activities fairly, honestly and openly, in accordance with relevant legislation, and to the highest standards of integrity' (policies on bribery and fraud)
  • 'providing a safe environment for all adults at risk and children' (Safeguarding policy)
  • creating an environment where 'everybody is supported to feel and perform at their best as part of the University community' (Wellbeing vision)

The University has a wide range of policies and procedures that underline this commitment, some of which are listed below.

Please note that where there is an immediate risk of harm to any individual the appropriate emergency services should be contacted urgently (in the UK this is usually by calling 999).
