Oxford Events is launching

WHAT’S HAPPENING?

Oxford Events will be launching in the coming months as the replacement of OxTalks. Powered by the University’s new CRM platform, the updated events listing site will be based on the latest and best practice technology – a welcome and much needed alternative to an obsolete system, frequently hampered by technical issues.
As well as the enhanced user experience, Oxford Events provides a new opportunity for users who had opted out of OxTalks to re-engage with the resource. Have a look at our latest demo below.

We will soon be providing more details on the launch timescales. In the meantime, we have created a short list of user instructions to ensure that everyone is ready to transition to the new platform by the go live date. Please follow the guidance below to find out what you need to do next.
 

ALL OXTALKS USER INSTRUCTIONS

If you currently submit events to OxTalks on behalf of your organisational unit (group), OR if you curate Collections/Series of events in Oxford, OR if you use Collections/Series of events to populate your website or intranet, here’s what you need to do now:

Please provide the following information below to Claire Eggleton, Claire.eggleton@it.ox.ac.uk

  • Your name
  • Your organisational unit
  • Details of any website(s) where the curated calendars appear including site URL, and a contact name for the team managing the website(s)/intranet. 

 
COLLECTIONS/SERIES CURATOR INSTRUCTIONS

If you curate collections/series of events, you will need to be granted access to the CRM platform to become an Event Editor. You will then need to undertake training to use the platform and details will be provided to those identified as Event Editors. Please contact Claire Eggleton, Claire.eggleton@it.ox.ac.uk

COLLECTIONS/SERIES CONTRIBUTOR INSTRUCTIONS

If you currently submit events on behalf of a unit/group you will become an Event Contributor and we will provide guidance of how to submit events. Please contact Claire Eggleton, Claire.eggleton@it.ox.ac.uk

DO WE HAVE YOUR DETAILS ALREADY?

OxTalks users who have already been in touch with the CRM team with their details, do not need to submit them again.

THE FUTURE VISION AND OPPORTUNITY FOR OXFORD EVENTS WITH CRM

Whilst much of the functionality of Oxford Events will remain the same as on OxTalks for now (but with much more reliability!), there will be the future potential to align with the Events Management functionality on the CRM platform helping to track those registering/attending events and to receive feedback from them.  This would enable upcoming events to be more effectively marketed, by understanding who has attended particular types of events in the past as well as pointing event attendees to Continued Ed/Online Ed courses related to their area of interest.
