Your stories: NHS volunteer scheme
John Maguire, Lodge Porter at Queen's for 15 years, responded to the recent nationwide call for volunteers to help the NHS
I’m one of the many people who offered their services to help our wonderful NHS, and I’m very pleased that I was accepted.
I’m working as an NHS Transport Volunteer, which involves using my vehicle to move equipment, supplies and medication between NHS sites. I’m also involved with assisting pharmacies with medication deliveries to their customers.
It's been a joy to carry out this work; I get quite emotional when I see how others are coping with various life changes.
And my heart goes out to the front line services with everything that they are doing. Me – I’m just doing my bit to help them.
