The Open Door Charity is one of Merseyside’s most dynamic and progressive independent charities.

At the Open Door Charity, we reimagine what mental health support looks, sounds, and feels like using innovation, arts, and culture as catalysts for change.

We shape change by offering unique, evidence-based programmes in non-clinical settings, using shared lived experience as a driving force in the creation and implementation of our support options.

Additional Information

Format will be long tables with participants facing one another. A key skill will be shared with the group, which pairs then discuss and make real for themselves, before they then move onto the next skill and work with a new member of the group. This will make conversation and shared experience the key tool within the learning, whilst also allowing participants to harness the power of being social and engaging with new people with similar lived experiences.

The nature and degree to which people share in the sessions is completely up to them. There is no pressure to share anything which you are not comfortable sharing. Transparency about lived experiences and the application of the skills learnt are key to Soothe Socials. However there can be just as positive an impact if you take the skills away and apply them to your own thinking after the session. We are happy to accommodate any individual needs such as somebody who wished to simply attend and not engage in the conversations, but just participate in the learning of new information. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss this via email at lydia@opendoorcharity.com.
