Sedleian Professor of Natural Philosophy
Professor Jonathan (Jon) Keating, Henry Overton Wills Professor of Mathematics in Bristol, and Chair of the Heilbronn Institute for Mathematical Research, joined the University as Sedleian Professorship of Natural Philosophy on 1 September. Professor Keating has wide-ranging interests but is best known for his research in random matrix theory and its applications to quantum chaos, number theory and the Riemann zeta function. In November, he will be the next President of the LMS. The Sedleian is regarded as the oldest of Oxford's scientific chairs and holders are simultaneously elected to fellowships at Queen's College, Oxford.
Professorship of Paediatric Neuromuscular Disease in the Department of Paediatrics
Laurent Servais (MD Catholic University Louvain, PhD Free University Brussels), Professor of Child Neurology at the University of Liège, Head of the Neuromuscular Centre, Liège, and Head of the Institute I-Motion, Paris has been appointed to the Professorship of Paediatric Neuromuscular Disease in the Department of Paediatrics. Professor Servais took up the post on 1 September 2019. Professor Servais will be a fellow of Kellogg.
Professorship of Taxation Law in the Law Faculty
Tsilla Dagan (LLB JSD Tel-Aviv, LLM New York), Raoul Wallenberg Professor of Law at Bar Ilan University, has been appointed to the Professorship of Taxation Law in the Law Faculty. Professor Dagan, taking up the post from 23 September 2019, will be a fellow of Worcester.
