Implementation of 2019 pay award - non-clinical staff

From 1 August 2019, the minimum uplift is a 1.8% increase on salaries, with those on the first 11 spine points of the University’s pay structure seeing increases of up to 3.53%. This higher increase will affect 1,300 University staff. The uplift will
be implemented in the September payroll and backdated to 1 August 2019.

The trade unions remain in dispute over the pay offer. The normal dispute resolution procedure has been followed but the Universities and Colleges Employers Association has advised that a resolution could not be reached, and that staff should
therefore receive the pay increase as soon as possible.

In addition to the nationally negotiated annual pay award, about half of all staff will receive an annual increment, which is approximately a further 3% increase, as a result of being below the maximum point of the service scale for the grade of their
post. Support staff in grades 1-5 receive this on 1 August and other staff receive this on 1 October annually.

Please see HR Circulars for details of the revised salary scales.
