Message of condolence from Raymond Dwek

Message of condolence from Raymond Dwek, Biochemistry

Her Majesty was a rock for our country. Her tolerance graciousness, goodness and kindness made her an outstanding monarch. She represented us all. I recall our first meeting when she came to open the new Christ Church quadrangle. I had tea with her in the Upper library and although we were instructed not to open a conversation, I recall asking her about her son Charles at Cambridge. She opened up like any proud mother and thanked me for asking. Years later at the 350th anniversary of the Royal Society she and then the Duke asked me to guide her around the poster display. She allowed me to take a photo as a thank you present.

I hope her legacy will endure as it will help to  cement the values that made this country great
