Message of condolence from Mariela Rios Diaz

Message of condolence from Mariela Rios Diaz, Department of Education

My deepest condolences to the Royal Family and all those directly connected to Her Majesty. Even as a foreigner residing in the UK, I have always admired Her Majesty for her steadfastness, bravery and humility. Truly, there is no person who has served their country for a longer time, with such dignity. I found a lot of comfort in her constant worldly presence when it seemed everything was in turmoil (as it still is), with so much uncertainty and despair - it was continuity and stability in a sea of a world changing so fast.
I am saddened to think this is the end of an era as we will never see anyone like her but look forward to what the future brings. She gave a wonderful example of leadership and I trust that will continue. I came to study to the UK initially because of her and my fascination with Royal history but I have stayed because of my love for british culture, its people, their grit and determination of being world leaders in many areas - a reflection of what Her Majesty was. Thank you for your inspirational duty.

With kind regards.
