X5 is a tool used to calculate how much research income will be needed from funding bodies. X5 helps the University to manage millions of pounds of research application costings, pricing, and approval each year. However, until recently, there were workflow issues with X5 which often meant the system would crash during the approval process, causing frustration and wasting time.
These developments have helped to ensure that research grant applications can be completed and processed without interruptions, whilst also helping to reduce the volume of manual workarounds generated by service calls to the X5 helpdesk.
Now, thanks to funding and resources provided by Oxford’s digital transformation programme, the X5 support team has worked with the supplier, Unit4, to refine the X5 workflow to help improve the experience for research and administration colleagues in departments, Research Services, and Research Accounts.
Tricia Murkin, Research Systems and Finance Manager (business owner for X5), thanked the digital transformation team for making this change happen and added
“A smoother workflow process has allowed us to provide an improved and more efficient service to all our users saving us all time and money”.
