The Apprenticeship team is delighted to launch the new Coaching Professional Apprenticeship, delivered by BPP in partnership with Grant Thornton. The course will enable participants to develop the skills and understanding required to be able to coach colleagues on a range of workplace issues.
The Coaching Professional Apprenticeship is a Level 5 qualification designed for current or aspiring coaches to provide one-to-one coaching in a professional environment. It is open to staff who can demonstrate how it will benefit delivery of their role and career development and to those who it may be particularly relevant to, eg line managers, supervisors, advisors, consultants and business partners.
In our Strategic Plan we recognise that 'personal and professional development is key to enabling individuals to reach their full potential and maximise their contribution to the University'. This new apprenticeship will support the development of coaching approaches across the University, empowering staff to contribute ideas and help individuals and teams to develop creative responses to the challenges they face.
The course-based element will last 12 months, followed by up to three months preparing for the End Point Assessment (EPA). The course will be delivered via virtual classrooms and developmental workshops, monthly one-to-one sessions with a coach from BPP, and individual time working on online content and assigned tasks. You will receive a nationally-recognised Level 5 qualification on completion.
The apprenticeship has a very practical focus and you will be expected to coach colleagues during the programme and to apply learning from the programme at work. The University will support you to find internal coaching clients. On completion of your apprenticeship, you will be expected to continue coaching through the Oxford Coaching Network, a community of practice that provides ongoing professional development and supervision.
The Coaching Professional Apprenticeship training is fully funded by the Apprenticeship Levy, resulting in no cost to you or your department (although minor costs, such as travel expenses may apply).
We hope to launch the programme in April or May 2021. Please note that places are limited for the first cohort of this apprenticeship.
