Appointment notice: Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Development & External Affairs

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to announce the appointment of Professor David Gann CBE to the post of Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Development and External Affairs. David comes to us from Imperial College London where he held the position of Vice-President, Innovation and Development, and Professor of Technology and Innovation Management.

At Imperial, David played a pivotal role in developing the vision, strategy, funding and delivery of the university’s 23-acre White City Innovation Campus. David is a chartered civil engineer with a PhD in industrial economics. He has published several books, including four with Oxford University Press and most recently Philanthropy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship with Palgrave Macmillan.

David is Chairman of the UK Atomic Energy Authority and a passionate supporter of music and the arts. I know that you will join me in offering him a warm welcome when he joins us on November 2nd.

I am delighted to report that we will not be losing Dr Robert Easton, who has ably led this portfolio with energy, drive and creativity for the past three years. Robert has brought a keen commercial eye to all our activities and has served as an invaluable and collegial member of the senior team. He is transitioning to working for the University in a volunteer capacity, and will retain his positions with OUI, CRDRF, OSI, and SRIRC while chairing a new volunteer committee of alumni and friends.

Yours sincerely,

Louise Richardson
Vice-Chancellor
