We explain Oxford's new student app ‘MyOxford’ and how it will help students.
What does MyOxford offer?
MyOxford looks to enhance student experience and provide a single, consolidated point of entry to navigate their University and college systems and services, and access key information more efficiently.
Who is MyOxford for?
All undergraduate and post-graduate students at the University of Oxford. Currently, MyOxford is primarily designed as a resource for students, which means that access to its contents is restricted for most staff members. Only staff that are using MyOxford features, such as the college newsroom, are being given access so if staff try and log into the app, they will get an error message.
How can students access the app?
MyOxford is available via a mobile app or web-portal that students can log into with their Oxford Single Sign-On (SSO). The colour themes and layout of the app are customisable to suit students’ accessibility needs or personal preference and to ensure students can quickly access the systems and information most relevant to them.
What will students see?
The main University dashboard will give students access to Nexus365 (email, calendar, OneDrive), Canvas, Search Oxford Libraries Online (SOLO), and Student Self Service, among other useful services and resources. Students will also see a college dashboard featuring systems, tools and news from their college.
When will students have access to MyOxford?
The app is now available to students who have Oxford SSO accounts.
This launch version has been developed following a prototype which ran with a couple of colleges in Trinity term. The MyOxford team has been working closely with the students involved in the prototype to make sure that the version released in Michaelmas makes a real difference to students’ experience at Oxford.
The team will continue to develop the MyOxford app and will be releasing enhanced functionality regularly.
What do students think about the app so far?
The students who tested the MyOxford app during the prototype stage were pleased with the concept and mentioned it was better than going back to a handbook to find the systems, forms, and deadlines. They particularly liked having quick access to the different systems that they log into every day, being able to book meals without having to go through SSO every time, and highlighted useful websites that they hadn't used before.
The students' feedback and suggestions for improvement on the look and functionality of the app have been taken on board by the project team who implemented a wide range of updates before the app went live to students in September 2024.
If I have feedback or suggestions, where do I go?
The team is happy to hear from staff and students from across the University, email myoxford@admin.ox.ac.uk. Students can send feedback directly from the app or sign up to the Student Digital Voice.
