Help shape how the University communicates with staff

Following a University-wide communications survey in January 2025, which received more than 180 responses from colleagues across departments, the Internal Communications team is inviting staff to take part in follow-up discussion groups or share their views through a short, anonymous questionnaire in July. Once you have completed the form, you will be contacted by our team and will either be invited to fill out the questionnaire or join a discussion group, based on your response and availability of spaces.

So far, your feedback has helped us to make improvements such as adding bullet points capturing key messages to the Vice-Chancellor's video messages, and upcoming updates to the University Bulletin from September that aim to make it more relevant, concise and engaging to all staff.

The survey explored staff views on the effectiveness of internal communications, preferred channels for receiving information, and the clarity of leadership communications. While the results provided valuable insights, several themes emerged that would benefit from more detailed discussion.

To build on these findings, staff are invited to fill out a short questionnaire or join a one-hour online discussion group which will run in the weeks commencing 30 June and 7 July. All staff are welcome to take part. The aim is to gather more nuanced feedback that will help shape how the University communicates with staff in the future.

The discussion groups will be run by an external, independent facilitator. Insights from the original survey, discussion groups and the short questionnaire will inform practical improvements as part of the Internal Communications team’s ongoing work to enhance staff engagement and ensure communications are clear, timely and relevant. Sign ups for the discussion groups close on Friday 27 June.

If you are interested in taking part in either activity, please complete the form below.
