The Student Information System (SITS) agile delivery team have started working on their product using the new agile methodology. Starting this week (11th March) in their discovery stage, the team are preparing to begin two-week sprints. The SITS pilot will run for a minimum of 12 weeks through to September 24.
Alongside other pilot squads, the SITS squad will be engaging with student and staff stakeholders throughout the product cycle, this should ensure that the views of end-users will be continuously reflected in the system improvements. The new agile methodology means that the team can continuously ‘road-test’ the improvements so stakeholders will have more opportunities to influence and co-create a system that works for them.
In the coming months, there will be regular consultations with stakeholders to help identify what really works for them. There will be a call out for staff via university channels, including the Digital Digest. With requests for student input shared through the Student Digital Voice group.
Made up of colleagues from the existing student systems team and expert consultants supporting the implementation of Agile, the squad will trial tools that support the new ways of working. Stakeholders will share what matters most to them and the product team will prioritise the highest value items. The squad follow a continuous improvement approach, planning, collaborating, executing and evaluating in two-week sprints. This new way of working requires the squad to keep the user at the forefront and deliver a product that works for them.
