The AI and Machine Learning Competency Centre is excited to announce a six-month pilot of Google’s generative AI offering, Gemini Pro, which will be available through the Oxford University Workspace.
This pilot is open to all staff across the collegiate University. We are particularly interested in individuals who have specific use cases they wish to explore and who would like to compare Gemini's capabilities to other AI tools. In exchange for free access, you will be required to provide regular feedback on your experiences through surveys and other means.
The insights gathered from this pilot will be invaluable in helping to inform the University's decisions regarding future support and investment in AI tools. Your participation will help us understand how to best implement and embrace generative AI to enhance our work.
To apply, please complete this form.
Please note that there is extremely limited availability of the licences, so if you are interested, we encourage you to confirm your interest promptly.
This survey will close at 10am on Wednesday 18th June.
About the Pilot
This initiative aims to evaluate how staff can benefit from the advanced features of generative AI tools in their day-to-day work. The pilot will help us understand the potential benefits of premium AI tools and explore new capabilities for these systems.
A key advantage of using Gemini through the University's Workspace is data security. Unlike the free, public versions of AI tools, this enterprise version ensures that the University's data is kept within a confidential environment.
Training and Support
To support this pilot, Google for Education will be hosting a Gemini training session at the University of Oxford in the afternoon of 30 June 2025. This session will introduce Gemini's applications, provide hands-on experience, and explore best practices for its integration into university workflows.
We look forward to your applications and to exploring the potential of generative AI with you.
