Microsoft First Policy

In 2024, the University entered into a strategic partnership with Microsoft aimed at enhancing research, education, and digital infrastructure. This partnership allows for greater communication between the University and Microsoft as a software provider, optimising investment into current and future solutions. Following this, the IDC (Information and Digital Committee) has adopted a 'Microsoft first' policy for all new central initiatives to maximize value through better integration with existing technology. Exceptions will be considered if Microsoft's solutions do not meet critical needs. This policy applies only to digital services under IDC and its Portfolio Committees. Faculties, Departments, and Colleges can benefit from this arrangement directly too but can also choose their preferred products independently.

Staff can find out more about this policy and the exceptions process through the FAQ.
