Welcome to our new Vice-Chancellor

Professor Irene Tracey

Professor Irene Tracey, CBE, FMedSci, became Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford on 1 January 2023. She was previously Warden of Merton College, Oxford, her alma mater. She is also Professor of Anaesthetic Neuroscience in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences. 

The admission ceremony for Professor Irene Tracey took place on 10 January in the Sheldonian Theatre.

During her first week in post as Vice-Chancellor, Professor Irene Tracey also shared a video message with colleagues. In the video, Irene welcomes staff to the 2023 and looks ahead at her plans as Vice-Chancellor.
