Dr Markos Koumaditis - HR Director

Markos arrives at Oxford on Tuesday 20 September from Westminster where he was HR Director for the House of Commons.

Prior to Westminster, Markos was the Group People Director at London South Bank University, one of several roles he has held in higher education. He has a PhD in Modern European History from Kings College London, and has studied in his native Greece, as well as in Italy and the UK.

Professor Anne Trefethen, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, People and Digital, said: “The HR Director is a critical role at the University leading the HR support teams and helping to set policy to best support staff. Markos’s extensive experience in higher education will set him in good stead for his time in Oxford, and I am very much looking forward to working with him.”

Alexandra Vincent - Divisional Registrar, Humanities Division

Alex joins Oxford on Monday 12 September from the Arts and Humanities Research Council where she was Chief Operating Officer. She previously worked at Research Councils UK and served as a member of both the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales’ Research, Innovation and Engagement Committee and Scottish Funding Council’s Research and Knowledge Exchange Committee.

Professor Dan Grimley, Head of the Humanities Division, said: “We are delighted that Alex is joining the University at such an exciting and important time for Humanities at Oxford. She will make a vital contribution to our planning around research and teaching as we prepare for the opportunity provided by the opening of the Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities in 2025. Alex’s experience leading large organisations, as well as her deep understanding of the arts, scholarship and higher education funding, mean she is ideally placed to support our ambitious plans.”

The University has benefited from interim support in the HR and Humanities Division roles from Peter Brook and Laura Gibbs respectively for several months.

“Our University thrives when we have high quality professional services directed by confident and experienced leaders. Both Markos and Alex will bring a huge amount to Oxford, and I am confident they will make a real difference. I would like to extend our thanks to Peter and Laura for leading these important interim roles so effectively, and we wish them all the best in their future endeavours.” - Registrar Gill Aitken CB
